| Technical point on the FOR System. |
| |
Recent accidents such as the MSC Napoli which was beached last January south of England underline the necessity to highlight the scope of use of the FOR system (Fast Oil Recovery).
Indeed the media and the public opinion are very keen on the passive safety solutions but sometimes do not have a complete view of the scope of use of such systems.
It is of course very efficient to empty the tanks of submerged ships through the preinstalled connectors providing an access to the pollutant. The FOR systems may also be used in case of minor accident such as grounding or breaches into tanks. Those are to happen more often and the use of FOR system in such cases will reduce the ecological impact and the financial losses due to a non sailing ship.

| JLMD visits Korean shipyards. |
|
 |
The technical team of JLMD went to Korea from the 20th to the 23rd of March. Our Korean agent Peter Pyon from World Ocean welcomed and guided the team through visits at shipyards among the biggest in the World.
The point of those meeting was to validate the technical aspects for the installation of several types of ships, among which containership of over 11,000 teu (twenty feet equivalent unit). The volume of fuel for propulsion loaded on those ships reaches 20 000 m3 !
|
| |
JLMD had the opportunity to exchange with teams of engineers very enthusiastic for the installation of the system and collaborating efficiently to have an optimum technical proposal.
The journey led to meet some more shipowners and allowed our team to go on promoting the JLMD system and all its benefit for the environment.

| JLMD informs the French maritime autorities. |
| |
JLMD meets the French Maritime authorities (Préfectures Maritimes) to inform them about the market of the passive safety devices and to exchange on the processes to mitigate the maritime incident.
Even though they are not directly involved in oil recovery operation, the French authorities approve the concept of the FOR systems and affirm that such devices on board ships may help making decisions about what to do with ships needing assistance.
The basis of the technical development of the FOR system being the plans of the ships, JLMD can quickly provide information to the coast guards so that time can be saved from the beginning of the crisis.
At last the necessity to know if a ship is equipped or not has been discussed. The appropriate means to provide this information are online networks, mentioning the presence of passive safety devices on board.
