Louis Dreyfus Armateurs is gaining long term momentum in the salvage-friendly movement with new vessels equipped with FOR Systems.

The installation had been greatly managed by the Chinese shipyard Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co. Ltd which has now developed a concrete expertise in new salvage friendly ship design. These vessels were officially named last May 22nd2014 in the presence of Chinese and French officials.

The ”SIMON LD” is the second of two Cape size bulk carriers (180 000 dwt and 292 m long) controlled by the Group LOUIS DREYFUS OWNERS (LDA), which had already named LEOPOLD LD on October 17th 2013.

“This link between the first and sixth generation, between the past and the future of our Group, is a blink to the history of our family and our company,” said Edouard Louis-Dreyfus whose SIMON LD is named after his son.

The two new Handy size “THE LANDRIAIS” and “LA RICHARDAIS” are the last two of a series of four Handy size bulk carriers (180 m) controlled by LDA ROULLIER, a joint venture created by Roullier Group and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs.

The vessels are Maltese-flagged and all equipped with JLMD FOR System technology.
